Sue Mathews:
Greetings fellow Laurier Brantford students! I am Sue Mathews and I am running to be elected as one of your Brantford Campus Councillor. I am currently Book Buddy Executive for Laurier Students for Literacy, Vice President of Laurier Brantford Diversity Club, Secretary for Laurier Brantford Student Alumni and Go-Team leader for 2008-2009 Orientation Week. I was also Vice President Liaison for Brantford Residence Council With all these extracurricular activities under my belt, I have grown into being an effective leader who always strives for the best. Being your Campus Councillor means that I not only representing the voice of Laurier Brantford students, but serve the students to its fullest potential and make their university experience one to remember.
Cameron McGregor:
My name is Cameron McGregor and I am a third year Concurrent Education student. I am currently completing my second year as a Residence Life Don, which has been an extremely rewarding experience for me. My contribution to the Laurier community encompasses activities with first years, providing a safer community through Foot Patrol and close ties with the Special Constables and attempting to meet the needs of an ever diversifying school community through the Laurier Brantford Rainbow Alliance. I feel becoming a Brantford Campus Councillor will provide me with the opportunity to further the gains in safety, diversity awareness and programming seen on the campus this year, resulting in a better Laurier for all.
Nick Savage:
For the school year of 2010 to 2011, my platform surrounds the notion of getting the ball rolling on a more prominent Brantford campus. This requires the connectivity and community of the campus and its relatives. My actions would include connecting not only both campuses, connecting with Nipissing Brantford, considering the plethora of Concurrent Education students. Through these ideas and ensuing actions, I feel Laurier Brantford can become a more powerful community than it already is. As a student filled with passion for the campus, I want others to feel the same, and to look at their time at Laurier Brantford as a life shaping experience. Laurier Brantford is the fastest growing campus in Ontario, and I feel that I can help unleash its potential.
Courtney Skye:
I believe that the students that attend this Campus are the future leaders in their fields. As a Brantford Campus Councillor, I will work to ensure that the while attending WLU, students have the best possible university experience. I believe that the students at our campus deserve to feel like Brantford is their home. I want our campus to reflect the amazing talent that we have here, and as your representative to WLUSU and the Waterloo campus, it will be my responsibility to ensure that the needs of students at our campus are met fairly, but also recognizing our special requirements as a growing campus in a unique city.
Amanda Thomas:
If elected as a Brantford Campus Councillor, I will actively work to find out what is important to the student body using tools like open forums, surveys, suggestion boxes and the open door policy. I will make every effort to ensure that suggestions are acted upon. I plan to promote the student unions visibility on campus so that everyone is well informed and has the opportunity to get more involved in university activities and the Brantford community through outreach programs. For a growing campus we need better services and facilities. For example, a variety of healthy meal options and an improved recreation center, which are some of my priorities. I would strive to build a SAFE, DIVERSE, EQUITABLE and SUSTAINABLE campus.
